Frequently asked questions

How do I capture a flag?

Walk to a flag location on the map. When you’re within capture range, which GPS verifies, tap the flag to claim it for your faction. Some flags require you to stay in place for a short time.

How do I join a faction?

You choose your faction when you create your account. Each city has four factions, each with its own identity and strategy.

Can I play offline?

Yes. TRIPWIRE Recon caches map data and objectives for offline play. Flag captures and leaderboard updates sync when you reconnect.

How do I earn points?

You earn points by capturing flags, defending territory, completing daily missions, taking part in clan activities and discovering historical landmarks. Night missions give bonus point multipliers.

How do clans work?

You can create or join a clan within your faction. Clan members can chat in real time, plan flag captures together and compete on clan leaderboards. Clans can hold territory together.

What are night missions?

Night missions are available between sunset and sunrise and give bonus point multipliers.

Does the app use my camera?

The app uses your camera only for the optional augmented reality overlay, which shows game elements on top of the real world. It does not capture, store or send photos or video.

What cities are available?

TRIPWIRE Recon is available in New Orleans, with four New Orleans factions. Edge Orbital plans to add more cities and factions.
